IMS: the keystone of next generation communications

The dawn of the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is approaching. Although strictly a standard addressing IP multimedia traffic on the network, its role will be much larger in next generation communication services. IMS will not only change how services are offered to customers across communication networks, but will also fundamentally change how customers are managed ? from the way they actually use the network, all the way through to their customer care and eventual billing.
